Do facial cleansers cause discomfort?

I was ordered by my dermatologist as part of an acne regimen to cleanse my face twice daily as well as using a topical and oral medication. I've been getting good results, but decided to switch cleansers from clean and clear bar soap to the Aveeno foaming cleanser. About two days in, I noticed my face was sensitive to the touch and hurt slightly while putting on my makeup. My skin has always been slightly sensitive...but is this because of my cleanser? Cleansing too much? Too many medications? An allergic reaction? If anyone knows what to do or how to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
